Buyer Role

About This Role

Purpose of the role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Buyer is a key component of the U value Ireland value chain ensuring continuous product supply with the best supply base and at the best value and to the agreed quality specifications.

The Buyer will support all elements of construction products for U Value Ireland. This includes supplier base management, ownership of price and product information, administration and reporting including management of the product listing. In this varied role you will work closely with internal stakeholders, including sales team, supply chain, product development, commercial, marketing and finance teams.

This role is an opportunity to join a growing construction company with a large portfolio of products and varied ranges with a diverse customer base and requirement.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting the Purchasing function in the following aspects of the category and product function, the Buyer will be responsible for the following:

• Supplier Management: Day-to-day contact for suppliers and long-term relationship building
• Conduct monthly supplier reviews
• Maintenance and collation of supplier information
• Resolving or escalating supply issues unable to be resolved by supply chain or QA
• Maintenance and update supplier price files and management of price change process
• Supporting finance with supplier price detail and terms
• Managing the product file, listing and delisting products with Master Data, maintaining product files and managing changes and delists.
• Collating Data & Reporting: preparation of reports for weekly reporting, supplier & product analysis, range reviews.
• Support category and range reviews through data and market insight, reporting, presentation preparation
• Forecasting/Sales: working with sales to forecast new products, new suppliers and promotions. Monitoring and reporting on same.
• NPD process: work with product developers in the NPD process liaising with suppliers and key stakeholders in the business
• New Product Development process: instigate and complete set up of new products on internal ERP
• Support in set up of new suppliers and execution of product migrations with suitable supply partners
• Identify procurement savings and ensure U Value Insulation are always buying at the best price

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum 3+ years’ experience in category, procurement or related role
• High level of proficiency with Intact and/or similar ERP systems
• Proven experience in challenging or negotiation situations
• Analytical skills and attention to detail relevant experience
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks
• Proven experience working in a fast-paced environment both independently and within team setting to meet deadlines
• Demonstrated ability to proactively and independently solve complex problems
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and team-oriented attitude
• Relevant professional qualifications
• Team player with ability to work cross functionally
